Data Management
Services (DMS) have built and operated numerous database software solutions
specifically tailored to environmental remedial investigations and feasibility
studies since 1986. EDM projects have ranged in size from 2,000 to over
750,000 chemical analytical points on numerous RI/FS projects, many exploiting
WESTON's extensive GIS capabilities. These projects used:
- An accounting-based
approach to data management that insures legally defensible datasets
with 100% data integrity.
- Audit trails allowing
data points to be traced from GIS to source documents in under 4 minutes.
- Application of
checks and balances from Chain-of-Custody to GIS and tabular analysis.
- Industry standard
Chemical Abstracts System (CAS) numbers used as basis for all compound
identification.
- Designed to be
used independent of laboratory digital deliverables of highly variable
quality.
- Highly modular
design allows for great flexibility.
- Fully automated
digital loading modules exist. These modules perform analytical group
recognition to eliminate loading of missing or extraneous data points.
- Double-blind hand
entry module provides a cost-effective means of gathering the industries
highest quality level for historical projects.
- Validation procedure
independent. Data modifications based on validation generate comprehensive
audit trail.
- Database is fully
relational. Entity relationship diagrams (ERD's) exist for all data
structures. Data structures are normalized.
- Compound Rules
of Precedence (CROP) module converts final analytical data set to be
usable by GIS and statistical applications by applying rules of precedence
to eliminate co-located data points.
- Integrated Statistical
Query System (SQS) allows users to interactively define, save and execute
batch queries on the dataset for report-quality statistical and data
listing tables.
- GIS export module
(GISX) prepares and delivers data to GIS for direct use.
