Field Data Entry Application

The GIS Field Data Entry application is a powerful, user-friendly tool for capturing parcel-related data gathered in the field. Field teams can view parcels on-screen and enter the appropriate information from a pen-based or laptop computer. The application enables quick and accurate parcel database development. The application was developed using ESRI's MapObjects and Microsoft's Visual Basic.

The parcel database is populated by selecting a single or multiple parcels, choosing the parcel category (Building, Vacant Lot, etc.), and then populating the data fields using pulldown pick lists. The values for the pick lists are stored in database files for ease of updating.

Parcel Categories:

Building - Tab for parcels that are to be categorized for anything but vacant lots (Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, Recreational and Residential).

Vacant Lot - Tab for parcels that are to be categorized as vacant lots.

Parcel Discrepancy - Tab for parcels that are determined to have an incorrect address in the parcel database.

Comments - Tab for placing a point on the map with an associated comment. This tab is useful to point to an area of concern (e.g., a missing parcel or general non-parcel-specific conditions).
