The Pipe Evaluation System application was developed to help engineers, managers, and planners identify and prioritize water mains for preventive maintenance, rehabilitation, and replacement. The application uses one or more models (predictive and subjective models) for deterioration, vulnerability, and criticality analysis. The application also provides an economic analysis tool to assist in rehabilitation vs. repair decision-making. In addition to the powerful modeling algorithms, the application also provides a user-friendly and easy to use Graphical User Interface for entering model parameters and for viewing/printing the query results in tabular reports, maps and graphics. The application was developed using object-oriented analysis techniques. The interface was created with Developer 2000 and ESRI’s ArcView and Avenue. The thematic map below shows the probability of next failure for the selected mains. The results are based on the PIPES predictive model. |
